Using Digital Forensic Technology in Your Investigations

August 24, 2006 at 2:00 PM EDT

Today, almost every investigation involves potential digital evidence. This session will describe the initial questions you should ask about the investigation, including what types of evidence may be available, what types of fraud may have occurred and whether insiders and/or outsiders could be involved. It will focus on the different forms of electronic evidence that may be present and how it can be used to support your case.

Gathering Digital Evidence
This session will focus on the various locations where relevant electronic information or evidence can be found. It will include a discussion of the methods used to gather, store and transport the evidence found on servers, computers, cell phones and PDAs.

Legal Issues and Other Concerns
This session will cover the some of the legal issues and other concerns involved in overt and covert electronic investigations. It will discuss the issues you need to address, such as privacy concerns and search and seizure laws, to ensure the evidence is gathered legally and safely.
